Visiting Ukraine during Christmas is an utterly wise decision as the Nativity is the most joyful holiday celebrated in Ukraine. Local people are preserving with the greatest care all the traditions which are making Christmas so special and so Ukrainian. Spend a few day in truly Ukrainian family to live, feel and taste the holiday. In our country we celebrate X-mas on the 7th of January due to our Orthodoxy traditions. That’s why there is no need to skip yours. You can do better – celebrate Christmas twice.
You will taste 12 lean dishes on Christmas Eve, sing Christmas songs called “Kolyadkas”,  visit charming Lviv churches and see how a countryside celebrate the holiday. Ukrainian culture is never so close and vivid as during Christmas or of course Easter holidays.

day 1: Lviv. Christmas Eve Supper. Family values.

Arrive to Lviv airport. Meet with TouchUkraine representative. Hotel Check-in.

Take a guided convivial tour in Lviv city-centre to get acquainted with magnificent architecture and street decorations for the holiday.
Enjoy walk on the little streets, great churches and feel pre-holiday fuss (mood).

Spend your evening with a Ukrainian family and discover all secrets of preparation of Holy supper (in Ukrainian - Sviata vecheria). Cook the main dish of a supper - Kutia (it's a concoction of milled poppy seeds, honey, boiled wheat, chopped nuts and fruit which has been consumed during thousands of years on the longest night of the year, during a ritual to remember family ancestors).
This supper is something exclusive. All family usually convene together. Supper begins, when first star appears on the sky. Before starting the supper all member of the family pray. Then the oldest member of family wish every person the best and give a piece of bread with honey. Holy supper consists of 12 meatless dishes representing the 12 months of the year or 12 disciples of Jesus Christ.

After Holy supper sing Ukrainian traditional carols called - Koliadky.

day 2: Church service. Fair in Lviv. Souvenirs.

On the first day of Christmas Ukrainians go to the church to visit a Holy Mass. Go to the most beautiful Lviv church - Dominican cathedral.
After delicious breakfast have an interesting excursion on the holiday Festival of Lviv. Here you can buy attributes of Christmas or handmade products. Taste our kitchen - varenyky, kovbasa, vine, uzvar, chocolate. Enjoy the atmosphere, when from all sides you hear "Koliadky" and see happy faces of people. Christmas bring love and calm in every heart. And there is usually frosty weather during Christmas holidays even if it had been warm and snow less before.

In the evening visit a Nativity Scene which will prove you in the form of a theatrical play a birth of Jesus. Listen to the symphony of the voices and discover our deep and old culture.

day 3: Big Koliada. Time to celebrate. Night Lviv.

You have a chance to listen to and see the appearance of artists from the whole Ukraine in the church of Holy Eucharist.

It’s a day when Lviv residents wear colorful traditional clothes, local amateurs compete in singing Christmas carols, and city square is filled with artisans, street performers.

Go up into the city Ratusha (city hall tower) and see from that place thousands of lights. Romantic views and echo of singing will leave in your heart warm memory about ukrainian Christmas.
Have a trip outside of Lviv to a countryside, where you will meet local Nativity Scene and join their door-to-door tour across the village. It's will be unbelievably exciting and realistic experience.

day 4: Lovely Lviv. Snow. Coffee. Farewell

Enjoy your last day in Lviv and continue exploring the city. Go for walks to Franko park.
Make snowman and go sledging. After cold street relax with a cup of hot coffee in one of a famous coffee houses.

Have walk on the main area of Lviv - Rynok area. Keep an eye on old sidewalk, buildings, churches and Christmas decorations.

Say good-bye to the most unusual Christmas of your life and keep memories in your soul.
